Skip began his insurance career in 1969 after receiving his BBA from Sam Houston State University. He worked for a major Insurance Company for 7 years before coming to Katy Insurance Agency in 1976. He is a licensed agent for Property/Casualty, Bonds, Life and Health. Skip has held the Associate of Risk Management (ARM) since 1974 and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) since 1989, professional designations.
He has served the insurance industry (since 1976) first as a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH), Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) and Independent Insurance Agent of America (IIAA). As for his service in the IIAH, he has served as a member of the Education Committee, Long Range Planning Committee and Board of Directors.
Skip is very active in the community as he has served in many areas. He has been Past Mayor of the City of Katy (1991-1995), Charter Member and Treasurer of the Katy Masonic Lodge No. 1439 A.F. & A.M.; President of the Rotary Club (1985-86), Served on the City of Katy’s Sesquicentennial Committee (1986), Original member, Treasurer 1998-2009 and current President (2009 -present) of the City of Katy Reinvestment Zone Number One, Member of the City of Katy Development Authority. He also serves on the Houston Community College Katy Business Steering Committee. He is a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Katy were he has served on numerous committees.
He what spare time he has, he loves traveling with his wife and spending time with his three grandsons and one granddaughter.
